Rhythm Kids helps drummers learn to teach and helps teachers learn to drum and provides the method to utilize this knowledge in their lives and in their classroom. Children love Rhythm Kids because it's FUN and families love Rhythm Kids because their children are involved in a program where they are learning and enjoying themselves at the same time.
Teaching Rhythm Kids
Only a registered teacher, who has successfully completed the Rhythm Kids training, is eligible to facilitate a Rhythm Kids class. Our classes combine the finest in music and drumming education with healthy activities and cultural enrichment activities. Our curriculum allows for the facilitator to be flexible and yet to be constantly aware of a child's individual needs. Tom Foote, the founder of Rhythm Kids, has spent ten years developing and researching the program methods with children of all ages. Classroom teachers can use the concepts in a "Morning Meeting" style and will find components of the program support math, reading, language, social studies and gross motor skills. Students will gain confidence, learn to express themselves and learn to appreciate other cultures.
Endorsements for Rhythm Kids
Our classes have been recommended by veteran Educators and Music Educators, Orff associations and the African Studies Department at Berklee College of Music by referring graduates to Rhythm Kids as potential teachers. Master drummers have given us their endorsement after visiting classes and performances for the integrity of the rhythm patterns. As a matter of fact, one master drummer has both of his children enrolled in one our classes and they have been for more than three years!
Rhythm Kids Methodology
Our drumming program has its roots in Orff and traditional African teaching methods. We understand that it is necessary for a student to utilize as many senses as possible to internalize rhythm so we use our voices, our bodies, our imagination, our hands and our community (class) to learn rhythm patterns and so much more!
Rhythm Kids Safari Packs™
For each class session (usually eight to ten weeks), children get the Rhythm Kids Safari Pack which includes online video support, a corresponding animal tee shirt and a users guide with cultural and animal awareness facts. The Safari Packs are ONLY for families registered with a licensed facilitator. This added visual component makes the Rhythm Kids program one of a kind.
